(31/50) Monkeysmith

In this game you play as a monkey blacksmith with your hammer and your opponent is on the other side. When the onscreen LEFT, RIGHT or DOWN arrow appears you must swing the Wii Remote in that direction before your opponent does. You score points this way. The game is over when your life meter depletes.

My highest score for this game so far is 659.

(30/50) Monkey Wars

Very neat traditional first person shooter using the pointer for aiming and the Nunchuck analogue stick for moving around. B is for shooting while A is for jumping. There are three arenas, everyone has a life meter and there's a handy selection of items and vehicles to take advantage of like a tank and my favourite, the flying saucer.

The object of the game is to get as many points as possible.

My best scores on the three arenas so far are:

Jungle Attack - 6,100
Pyramid Maze - 12,730
Cosmofield - 5,050

(29/50) Monkey Target

Your monkey ball is shot out of a cannon and you have to use the opened halves to glide your way to the target. You also have an option ball that can score points the same way. There are three rounds to get the highest score possible. Not sure what the floating bananas are for.

My highest score so far is 410.

(28/50) Monkey Squash

Basic squash game where you try to be the first to get 6 points. Nunchuck is used for moving around and Wii Remote swinging is for hitting the ball. Nice and simple.

There's no high scoring but I completed the game.

(27/50) Monkey Snowboard

Race against other monkeys on snowboards down tracks in the snowy mountains while avoiding snowmen and picking up bananas for extra speed. Wii Remote is held in the regular style and twisting is for turning.

There are three tracks to choose from or to play Grand Prix style.

I haven't gotten the best times in any of the tracks yet.

Monday, 26 October 2015

(26/50) Monkey Race

You race against the other monkeys rolling around the 5 racetracks holding the Wii Remote NES style and turning it to steer, pressing 2 to accelerate and the 4 points on the D-Pad to use stored items. There doesn't seem to be rubber-banding AI so that's quite nice.

You can choose to race on all tracks Grand Prix style for rankings or on a single track. You can also do time trials for best times.

My best times so far are:

Island Road - 01'46"48; best lap - 00'19"99
Jungle Highway - 01'34"79; best lap - (haven't reached yet)
Sand Storm - 02'17"63; best lap - 00'44"53
Pirate Circuit - 02'51"51; best lap - 01'24"54
Fire Ball - 01'23"12; best lap - 00'24"60

(25/50) Monkey Golf

A more standard golf game than the earlier flying disc one with green grass and blue skies.

Use the pointer for aiming and holding the A or B buttons for hitting at different powers. Swing the Wii Remote to hit the ball. You have a choice from three different clubs for pitching, putting and driving. Wii Sports golf is easier to play due to it using the D-Pad for aiming.

You can aim for the best scores on the Full 18 holes, the first 9 holes or the latter 9 holes.

My best so far:
Full 9 Holes: none yet
First 9 Holes: 66
Last 9 Holes: none yet

(24/50) Monkey Fencing

A swashbuckling fencing game where you and your opponent meet on a long narrow platform set high above the Volcanic Pools stage from the main game. You must win 2 rounds against them.

The Nunchuck is used for moving forwards and backwards and the Wii Remote is used for thrusting and batting your opponent's thrust out of the way.

There's no high score table for this game but I completed it.

(23/50) Monkey Darts

A darts game indoors somewhere... maybe a Monkey Pub? In this game you use the Wii Remote like a dart and use the pointer and small, sharp thrusting motions. Hold the A button to make the dart appear and release to throw.

There are three modes of play:

-Count Up where you try to get the highest score possible within 8 rounds
-301 where you try to get exactly 301 within 10 rounds
-501 where you try to get exactly 501 within 15 rounds

Each round has three throws each. Count Up is the only one with a high score to obtain.

My highest score so far is 312.

(22/50) Monkey Boxer

First person boxing! It's just like Wii Sports boxing but you can move around the ring by tilting the Wii Remote and Nunchuck. Try to knock your opponent over 3 times for a K.O.

There's no high score for this game but I completed it.

Wednesday, 21 October 2015

(21/50) Monkey Bowling

A standard bowling game with 10 pins. In this game you must aim with the pointer controls (instead of the D-Pad aiming in Wii Sports bowling) and do a motion for throwing the ball.

My highest score so far is 148

Tuesday, 20 October 2015

(20/50) Keepy Up

Using a baseball bat controlled with the pointer, you must keep bouncing the Monkey Ball in the air, getting extra points for combos. Get as many points as you can within 60 seconds. There are some nice volcanoes in the background.

My highest score so far is 590.

Monday, 19 October 2015

(19/50) Jump Rope

Taking place on the Monkey Island stage you jump rope by flicking the Wii Remote up. After every 10 jumps there's an applause and it gets a little bit more difficult.

My high score so far is 58.

Sunday, 18 October 2015

(18/50) Jigsaw Puzzle

Three nice jigsaw puzzles for you to do. Use the pointer to pick up and place pieces with the A button and twist the Wii Remote to rotate pieces. The pieces slot into place nicely when you match them correctly. UP and DOWN on the D-Pad is used for zooming in and out.

Jungle Walk with some trees and blue skies is the Easy 12 piece one, Space Wars with AiAi in a space ship is the Normal 24 piece one and Monkey Carnival with the cast of monkeys all together is the hard 48 piece one.

My fastest times so far are:
Easy: 01'19"61
Normal: 03'02"68
Hard: 16'31"36

I haven't beaten the fastest time for hard yet.

Saturday, 17 October 2015

(17/50) Hurdle Race

Race against 3 other opponents by shaking the Wii Remote and Nunchuck while pressing B to jump over hurdles on the track. Short and straightforward!

My best time so far is 00'19"94

Friday, 16 October 2015

(16/50) Hovercraft Race

The third of the hovercraft games and we're in an ice arena again, this time trying to collect flags as quickly as possible. It's really tough to become any way confident of steering and momentum to perfect a drift enough to go for the best times. There are three difficulties: Easy with 8, Normal with 12 and Hard with 16 flags to collect.

My best times so far:
Easy: 00'39"33
Normal: 00'44"06
Hard: 00'57"86

Thursday, 15 October 2015

(15/50) Hovercraft Battle

The second of the hovercraft games. In this one you're in an icy arena with three other monkeys and you must bump into the rears of your opponents to get as many points as you can within 3 minutes. Think of the bumper cars at the funfair, only with really slippery vehicles.

The driving controls are the same except now you also have a boost you can use by shaking the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, which costs points. There are also items that appear now and again where you can go for a chance to earn double points, speed up or freezing your opponents in place for a limited time.

My highest score so far is 3,069.

Wednesday, 14 October 2015

(14/50) Home Run Derby

Baseball batting practice where a pitching machine gives you 10 chances to hit the ball as far into the deep jungle as possible for the high score. Just do a swinging motion.

My highest score so far is 668.66ft.

Tuesday, 13 October 2015

(13/50) High Wire Act

Your character walks along a tightrope tied between the tops of three ship masts with the open ocean and surrounding islands in view. Tilting forward and backward is for walking and twisting is for balance. Try to keep the balancing pole even.

No high score table for this game but I completed it. The rope automatically shakes violently beyond the halfway point so stand still while it happens!

Monday, 12 October 2015

(12/50) Hammer Throw

While holding the A button, twirl the Wii Remote around and then let go of the button to throw. You have 5 chances to get a high score.

My highest score so far is 86.12m

Sunday, 11 October 2015

(11/50) Fruit Basket

Standing under a falling fruit tree with a bouncy leaf, you must bounce the yellow bananas, red apples and purple grapes into their corresponding baskets by twisting and tilting the Wii Remote.

In the corner you have a counter indicating the number of mistakes you're allowed to make before the game is over. Fruit drops faster as the game progresses.

My highest score so far is 56.

Saturday, 10 October 2015

(10/50) Frog Ball

Hop your way to the goal at the end of a desert themed level by aiming and flicking the Wii Remote upwards. Your character has special mechanical frog hopping legs attached to its ball.

There are cacti and trees that can get in the way as well as shifting sand and water but nothing's too much of a hindrance.

My best time so far is 00'55"21.

Friday, 9 October 2015

(09/50) Free Throw

Throw basketballs into one of five nets by aiming and flicking the Wii Remote. Sometimes the hoops flash for an opportunity to get bonus points. It all takes place in the beach arena.

My highest score so far is 200.

Thursday, 8 October 2015

(08/50) Fish Catcher

A deep sea spear fishing game where you aim and thrust the Wii Remote in order to skew the red and blue fish as instructed. The aim is to try to get as many as you can within the time limit. Sometimes you have to skew two of each colour or one of each colour at a time.

Quite fun to play while holding the Wii Remote like a javelin. The intentionally blurry underwater graphics was a weird idea though.

My highest score so far is 16.

Wednesday, 7 October 2015

(07/50) Disk Golf

To play disk golf you use the pointer for aiming and then do throw motions, trying to get the flying disk into the hole in as few shots as possible. If you fail to get into the hole within 10 shots you have to give up and move on to the next hole.

There are 9 holes and 4 modes of play; one being playing the full 9 holes at once and the other three being mini-rounds of 3 holes each. The course has nice green grass and blue skies, similar to the Monkey Island world in the main game.

It can be quite tricky to get used to. Aiming high is risky because the disk flies off where you may not be able to predict as there's no wind indicator and getting stuck between trees or rocks can be a nightmare. It's a good idea to keep checking the map and the par for the more difficult holes to come up with a strategy.

My lowest scores so far:

Full 9 holes: 39
Holes 1-3: 11
Holes 4-6: 14
Holes 7-9: 14

(06/50) Dangerous Route

A top-down version of Monkey Ball where you race against the clock and have a choice between 3 courses — easy, normal and hard. The cursor determines the direction your character goes and how quickly. You can collect bananas for extra seconds. The objective is to reach the goal with the best time.

The first level is the easy course and has a nice birds eye view of Monkey Island. It's mostly about manoeuvring around bends. The second level is the normal course over a cloudy sky and introduces moving barriers. The third level is the hard course set in outer space and is quite long and dangerous with its barriers and moving platforms. There's good opportunities for short cuts so scout around!

My best times so far:

Level 1 — Easy: 01'32"10
Level 2 — Normal: 02'11"86
Level 3 — Hard: 03'01"86

Monday, 5 October 2015

(05/50) Bugs Balance

Using the pointer that appears onscreen as a stick, catch the falling bugs and build a stack of them as high as you can. You can turn the stick over and they won't fall off but watch out for the yellow ones that knock them all off and immediately end the game. Gets pretty difficult as the stack gets taller.

My highest score so far is 1.97 inches.

Sunday, 4 October 2015

(04/50) Banana Thief

Use your poking stick to knock the thief monkeys off from stealing your bananas in this minute long endurance game. Thrust the Wii Remote upwards to poke with your stick, tilt it to the left or right to move in that direction and tilt it forward to avoid the monkey ball that occasionally appears to roll into you.

Points are scored from poking the monkeys and a bonus is added depending on remaining bananas if you last the full round.

My highest score so far is 5,400.

Saturday, 3 October 2015

(03/50) Banana Catch

Bananas fall from the sky and you must catch as many as you can within 60 seconds. Avoid the bombs that reset your score and your opponents getting in your way.

To move around on the little beach arena you must push to and pull from the sensor bar in order to move up and down and the pointer is for moving left and right. Quite tricky to get used to!

My highest score so far is 42.

Friday, 2 October 2015

(02/50) Asteroid Crash

Pointer based asteroid shooting game where you have to stop them coming towards the screen. Level increases in difficulty as you go along. The red asteroids you have to shoot three times and the bananas you don't shoot.

My highest score so far is 16,750.

Thursday, 1 October 2015

(01/50) Alien Attack

A survival game where you manoeuvre your hover spaceship away from oncoming alien attackers in an arena with an alien planet theme. This is all done with the motion controls and you'll be retreating a lot of the time, so be careful of your surroundings. It takes a good bit of practice.

Face the general direction of the aliens and the missiles you shoot at them will auto-aim to some degree. After a while, stronger aliens and UFOs will appear too. There are health replenishing and shield pickups now and again. The aim is to survive for 5 minutes and get the highest score possible.

My highest score so far: 16,000
